Whoopsy

Via Sports Collector's Daily, a "production error" resulted in a limited number of cards from 2007-08 Fleer Ultra Basketball to be released with a blank back. The errors occurred on the already short-printed Premiere, Lucky 13 and Legendary 13 cards. According to Upper Deck, about 200 sheets were printed with the blank backs. The error was caught by quality control so presumably a lot less made it out into the wild. Hmm... Extremely short printed error cards of the rookie and legends subsets? Am I just cynical or do I smell an Alex Gordon here? Are these blank backs only found in Wal-Mart boxes? Good for Upper Deck for figuring out how the game is played. With a successful retro set and now an extremely short printed error to chase, it looks like Upper Deck dropped their attempt to buy Topps because it was simpler to just steal their modus operandi.

I agree. With today's collation processes and quality controls, there is no way this is some freak 'accident.' Hats off to UD -"can't buy 'em, steal their ideas!"
