A penny for your thoughts

Ok, yeah, so it's a penny. What is this even doing here? Let's flip it and see the memorial.

Whoa! Shield penny! Radical! The shield looks slick. When did this happen? Oh looky it happened this year. And they're keeping the design! Now my kids and grandkids can chase after Lincoln memorial pennies in change like I chased after wheat pennies. Good job, Mint. Why am I so excited about this? I must be in need of some excitement.

I don't think I'll ever understand these decisions. But then again, I guess coin collectors need new material, too.

MOJO!!!

someone tell me why we still have pennies?

I hope that law passes soon and we ditch it for good. It costs the Canadian Government 1.7 cents to make a penny.
Now there's a sound business decision.

I literally throw pennies away when I'm cleaning.

MOJO that.

I agree, I think it's a matter of time before making pennies becomes untenable monetary policy. We wouldn't accept straight out aluminum pennies (even if coated to look all copper-y), and as a coin. it's relative face value becomes more inflationarily (is that a word?) worth less every day.

I like the design well enough, mostly because it's been 50 years since any lasting design change. However, I am going to miss seeing new shiny pennies with the teensy Lincoln chilling inside the memorial on his regal recliner.

It's still fun to get pennies from the Sixties or early Seventies, where Lincoln has got a serious Mod Squad afro compared to the high and tight trim he sports on pennies these days...

Word verification this time is "tedaziti". Is that some new pasta dish at the Olive Garden?

i like them because they remind me of Captain America's shield. No not he round shield the original shield.

Penny's are not the only new coins out. They are going through all the quarters AGAIN; this time with national parks.

I used to collect coins. I guess I got bored of collecting cards for a little while. Either that, or I have the "collector" gene.

People have been talking about getting rid of pennies since at least the '80s. I'm pretty sure it's never going to happen. We're a culture of pack rats.

Ellen Degeneres recently explained that 'E pluribus unum' translated means: "you really can't buy anything with a penny"
