But honestly, how could I pass this up?
With discounts and whatnot, it ended up costing me about a buck if anyone cares.
(It's not even the best League Leader card I found either)
I have no idea how to create pages but I'll figure it out eventually godammit

A few links before the card show
Last reminder:
Card show today and tomorrow in Atlanta.
One dealer, all vintage stuff, don't come looking for anything released after Nixon was president.
It's at the Courtyard Marriott on Delk Road in Marietta. Right off the exit, can't miss it.
I'll be there at noonish probably with my kid in tow if you want me to autograph your 1978 Topps Dave Campbell card or need to punch me in the face or something. Fat guy drooling on the bargain box, can't miss me.
Now for some linkage. First, a contest:
GA Mindset is giving away a box of Topps Chrome. Go clicky and jump through the necessary hoops for a chance to get some shiny.
Now the bloggage:
The Infinite Baseball Card Set is up to 56 gorgeous looking cards. Only infinity left to go!
Who Made The Grade is dedicated to graded vintage cards. No matter how you feel about grading, seeing a near mint 1971 Topps card is a joy.
Wax Pack Time Machine - any blog posting a Gordie Howe relic card is off to a good start.
Smed's Baseball Card Blog - not sure if I can top his blog description: "Yet still another baseball card blog"
Here's a few other links that aren't blogs:
Baseballcarddatabase.com - a database of various cardage and memorabilia, as well as the owner of every (YourTeamName)cards.com address. I'll describe it as my uncle described by beard in high school: "sparse, but vigorous".
Finally, I don't do ads anytime ever period stop contacting me. But in honor of Chris Harris I'll plug this.
Check out the baseball card blowout....

Little Green Postcard
Sports Memories show this weekend at I-75 and Delk at the Courtyard Marriott. You'll probably see me there on Saturday assuming I don't try to take a long lunch break on Friday to grab some cardage. If you like Vintage goodies, this is the show to go to. If you have any questions on how to get there, just leave me a comment. I'll check my e-mail just this once to help out fellow vintage lovers.
The show is one dealer, Sports Memories of Oklahoma. There will be no other dealers at the show. Inventory is basically mid-70s cards and earlier, going back to the Tobacco issues of the early 1900s. Click here for a good overview of the kind of stuff they have. No recent memorabilia or autograph cards. If you want that, go north a few exits to Champion Sports Cards or up GA-400 to Atlanta Sports Cards.
Since the World Series starts tonight and I'm still on my posting hiatus, I'll quickly go over my Series thoughts.
1) I am ashamed to admit that I have caught myself rooting for Brian Wilson and The Machine.
2) I am utterly dismayed that Jeff Francoeur has managed to derp himself into a World Series.
If my hypothesis that the Baseball Gods are just messing with me right now is correct, then you should bet the farm on the Rangers. Texas in 6.
Running off to sulk again, I'll be back eventually.
Oh yeah, HAPPY BIRTHDAY!

All over
A season ends where the Braves exceeded just about every expectation, overcame losing a Hall of Famer, an All-Star and half the rotation, somehow managed to hold onto a playoff spot, then lost another Hall of Famer in the playoffs. They still were within one run of the Giants every game in the playoffs even though their infield was completely different from what they started the season with and had to field a rookie at second base, right field and closer.
Yet still somehow, this team and its fans are losers and a disgrace, who have some 'splainin to do.
Screw y'all haters.
The season is over and I'm taking a break. I'll be back eventually.

10x10x10 #10 for 10/10/10
BEHOLD....
1000 Chipper Jones cards.
You knew I had to do something to celebrate binary 42 day.
SOON.... One oddball Chippah from each stack that I don't think I've shown off on this blog before.
2001 Donruss Bobble Head Thingy
No the price tag isn't stuck to the card. This was included as a box topper for some bullcrap Donruss product no one cares about and was inside its own little wrapper. Why the shop owner stuck the price tag on the wrapper instead of the toploader I have no idea.
Also a boxtopper in that Donruss junk? An actual bobblehead. One that looks nothing like the actual player. You can get your own bobblehead in a box of Donruss Class of 2001 for just 130 smackers! Or not, up to you... at least the card is serial numbered to only 2000!
No time for commentary on the rest, but here's the other promised oddballs.

Virtual 1982 Topps Sticker Album - Page 5
PLAYOFF EDITION!
I'm gonna skip around a bit and show off the playoff teams out of my '82 Topps sticker album over the next week or so. Actually, this page is still in order as it is right after the Cubs who were shown last. The Reds were one of my least favorite teams growing up mainly because they beat up my Braves so often in the NL West. Now that we are both in different divisions I can appreciate them again. In fact, if the Braves can't go all the way, I'm rooting for the Reds to come out of the NL. By making this statement, I have all but assured a Giants/Phillies NLCS. Contact your bookies quickly.
As for the background image shadow person, that's gotta be Tom Seaver, right? Even with the effed up face? It sure ain't Mario Soto. Pretty much the Reds' entire pitching staff was righties with the exception of Joe Price, so I suppose it could be Frank Pastore, but why? Gotta stick with Tom here.
(heh heh, get it, stick with Tom, I made a funny)
Tom got stuck along with everyone besides Johnny Bench. I am not unhappy with this turn of events as I am far more likely to come across a stray Johnny Bench sticker in my travels instead of say, a Ron Oester. Tom Seaver is looking upon his image in the background wondering what they did to his poor face. The scan got cut off at the side as did the Concepcion sticker. I didn't realize how badly cut it was until I saw it on the page. That's like, serious Topps206 mini miscut right there. My favorite sticker on the page is George Foster, underrated slugger. We really do need to found a Hall of Very Good just so guys like George, Al Rosen and Bobby Grich can finally be honored. They're more interesting than some of the bums in the 'proper' Hall anyway.

Contests
Linking to some contests today because 1) Too busy for anything else 2) I honestly don't give a crap anymore. My time off didn't so much recharge me as bring my posting inertia to a screeching halt. Go win something.
The Great Orioles Autograph Project is holding a Playoff Bracket contest. Hint: According to all media outlets the correct answer is "Phillies beat all comers just by giving them a mean look". Bracket accordingly.
Can't Have Too Many Cards is obfuscating his burning desire to post pictures of Don Pardo with a contest. Pick Hackenbush out of the school photo.
My pick:
Finally Thorzul is holding his third annual Nightmares on Cardboard custom card contest. This year, he is not limiting the contest to horror movies apparently, it just needs to be on a design from 1970-1990. So as long as your naked furry artwork of a transvestite midget cowboy is shooped into a 1981 Topps design, you're all good.
Edit: Why didn't any of you slackers tell me I forgot to link Thorzul's contest??
I was going to announce the winner of my Obak contest from 40 years ago, but I ran out of time is morning. No one's really been asking for the results anyway. I'll do it tonight if anyone still cares.
ALSO: I have to start totaling up points for the Heritage Blaster Fantasy League, so you can forget abut more posts until that's done.
Man, this is a depressing post, isn't it!
LATE ENTRY: Spankee has his own Playoffs Contest over at My Cardboard Mistress.
