I got two 53s for one dollar each at my LCS. It felt almost sneaky - on their part. In that I could really start to enjoy buying cheap low/no grade 53s. Round off all the corners and I would snap them right up. More round more better. But they decline to offer Vintage singles as a product line in their store; if some of those walk in the door for them to purchase they then sell them immediately online, where I already have too many distractions to chase and nicer 53 cards is a toll road I can't start down. So really those two Dollar Box scores were more like a tease, on their part. 53 further breaks my heart in that when Topps finally did a quality take on it with modern players (Living Set), they sell it at $10/card and up, putting both the old and the new out of reach of many who would enjoy them. Some day I will examine the various 53 reprint options; sometimes those work, sometimes they don't.
