I know that I have loudly disparaged the inferior Chicago team in times past, but even I feel bad for 'em right now. All this has happened today:
Ron Santo got screwed. AGAIN.
Greg Maddux retired.
Kevin Towers announced that the Cubs are not only bidding against themselves for Jake Peavy, but if they don't agree to the Padres' ransom by Thursday, they'll keep Peavy until at least Opening Day.
And now your owners, the Tribune Company, is bankrupt.
Now that's a lousy day. At this rate, Lou is going to demand a trade back to the Rays.

There might be baseball at the Ted this weekend
The Cubs - Astros series may be relocated to Turner Field in Atlanta due to the coming hurricane. Anyone who has been to a Cubs - Braves game at Turner knows this will end up being a home game for the Cubs as there are always loads of Cubbies in the stands for those series. Depending on what happens this weekend I might try to go to one of the games to boo the evil bear spawn.
To anyone out on the Texas coast right now, I hope you can't read this because you've gone to safety. Seriously guys, stay safe out there. Ike looks like one bad mother.

Throwback Day at Wrigley
Yeah! Afternoon baseball! Getaway day! And the teams are wearing throwback uniforms!
The hometown Cubbies were wearing their uniform style from the 50's with the blue hat and logo that makes you do a doubletake thinking it's a Reds cap every time you see it!
The Bravos were wearing their old style Boston unis with the black tomahawk and headdress logo on the sleeve because if they wore their Milwaukee unis a brawl might have broken out in ChiTown!
And best of all, the Braves played today just like they have been playing for the past week! Exactly like the 1935 Braves, one of the worst teams in the history of the game! Swept by the stinkin' rotten Cubs!
Someone please shoot me!
