1994 Cardz The Hitchhiker's Guide to the Galaxy

I might have posted this before, but what the hell, here it is again(?). I didn't know this set existed until I saw it paged up and wrapped in plastic hiding in a pile of old Star Wars magazines at a local antique shop. I snagged it and took it home and put the two checklist cards in the same pocket so a 100 card set could fit in 11 nine pocket pages. Have you ever wanted to read The Hitchhiker's Guide to the Galaxy in convenient trading card form illustrated by Steve Leialoha? Well now you can! Grab your towel and click on the images because the text is probably really tiny. Especially if you're reading this on a phone. Did you ever think you could read The Hitchhiker's Guide to the Galaxy in trading card on a phone?

The Twelve Days of Setsmas - Day 2: Buzzz

Two posts in a row holy shiiiii

Fun fact about Uncle Junkie... those of you who follow me on the twittahs know I am a Jawja Bulldawg fan woof woof woof woof woof.

BUT, when I was a wee little Junkling I was actually a bigger fan of Georgia Tech. Then I grew up and realized I would have to take calculus if I went to school at Tech and packed off to Athens to get my degree. Sporting times were good for Tech in the late '80s and I still get nostalgic for those teams like this one right here:

I know nothing about this set, I'm guessing it was team issued. I found it in a dollar box at a card show very tightly shrink wrapped. Not even sure why I picked it up, just got hit with that nostalgia bug I guess. It more or less inspired this series of posts so it's caused me a bunch of damn work! Got Bobby Cremins, Tommy Hammond and Brian Oliver cards now though. This was the season before the Lethal Weapon 3 team that went to the Final Four so no Kenny Anderson. I don't care, my favorite was Dennis Scott anyway. 3-D!

The Twelve Days Of Setsmas - Day 1: Spooooky

Ha Ha!
I ATEN'T DEAD
I smell pretty funky, but the blog still lives!

In the past, I've done a Twelve Days of Cardmas series where I play off the holiday song and post 1 2 3 4 5 6 7 8 9 10 11 12 cards over twelve days. This is a painstaking process with lots of planning and searching through boxes and scanning and uploading and swat and blood and heartache and strife and the posts are almost universally ignored by everyone because no one reads blogs during the holidays except for weirdos (like you!).

That is a big pain in the ass and I ain't ever doing it again.

But! Since this is a joyful time and we all look forward to getting rid of this shitass of a year I'm celebrating by posting the fruits of all that stuff I was doing when I wasn't posting blogs for you to read. Building sets! Here's twelve sets over twelve days that I assembled or built or bought or maybe just had lying around in my scan folder this year. [SPOILER ALERT] (there's some GOOD ones coming up) Let's start with one suitably festive for the Holidays!


1988 Topps Fright Flicks

A late '80's take on the "You'll Die Laughing" concept from 1959 and 1973, Fright Flicks shows off gooey pics from '80s horror films and matches them with ludicrous captions. Films include Ghostbusters, A Nightmare on Elm Street, The Fly, Aliens, Poltergeist, Fright Night and your favorite that I forgot about, Don't sleep on the creepy stories on the back, they're just as stupid as the fronts! See if you can spot references to Topps employees. And STICKERS! Man, these stickers are great. Who knew Freddy Krueger would have been one of the better Presidential candidates this year?
