We woooooooooon!

We won a playoff series!

For the first time since Clinton was President!

We actually did it!

Now we get to play King James and the Cavs!

If there is a Cavaliers fan out there who wants free cards, make me a (reasonable) wager on the Hawks - Cavs series. It's a pretty lock solid win. Just remember I have little money but lots of inventory right now.

We won!

So Happy

Lotsa things making me happy right now.

I've been waiting for ages to see the Falcons draft like they did this year:
1 Peria Jerry Defensive Tackle
2 William Moore Safety
3 Christopher Owens Cornerback
4 Lawrence Sidbury Jr. Defensive End
5 William Middleton Cornerback
5 Garrett Reynolds Offensive Tackle
6 Spencer Adkins Outside Linebacker
7 Vance Walker Defensive Tackle
SEVEN OUT OF EIGHT PICKS ON THE DEFENSE!

THE ONLY OFFENSIVE PLAYER THEY SELECTED IS A BIG OL' LINEMAN!

LINEMEN WERE HALF THE DRAFT CLASS!

Then this article described Peria Jerry as "a rolling bucket of butcher knives" and I got happier.

I also found out that the Braves are giving everyone a free ticket for their birthday! Woo! Free tickets! Me likey free tickets. I'm so happy.

I got confirmation that this site will not go gently into that good night and will be hosted elsewhere soon. If anyone knows of good GeoCities Baseball cards sites, post a link so we can work on saving them somehow. Not letting good info get flushed down the drain makes me happy.

Also: I have made my peace with 2008 Heritage High Series. Considering Heritage is pretty much the only brand I'll even think about buying right now, that's a good thing. Letting go needless frustration makes me happy.

Finally, I've also gotten packages from Dinged Corners, Madding and Captain Canuck over the past few days and that made me happy. Unfortunately I don't have time to post them at the moment, because I'm swamped with real life stuff. That makes me happy too as I'm finally making some headway after the past couple of months. I'll post 'em ASAP and send a few packages out myself this week. Gotta share the happy.

I Survived the Braves' 2009 Home Opener

I got off to a late start because I wasn't sure if they'd call the game or not, I got stuck in traffic and missed the first two innings, I spent over a half hour looking for parking, the rain hit the moment I entered the stadium and didn't stop for almost 2 hours, I got utterly drenched and was soaking wet all night (still am actually), the cast of Squidbillies was sitting three rows behind me and were drinking plenty of party liquer, the bullpen was typically shitty, the Nationals tied the game twice on bizarre plays and sent it into overtime, I froze my ass off soaking wet while the wind blew all night, the game didn't finally end until 1:30am, I couldn't get onto I-85 when I left because the signs led me to a carpool only entrance, I got lost looking for another way onto the interstate and ended up in Buckhead somehow, and I got home at 3am.

BUT - I got to see Jordan Schafer get a leadoff hit in the tenth and watch Kelly Johnson bring him home to win the game. The same night the Mets and Phillies lost. Awwww yeah. In honor of these two fine gentlemen who let all of us fans who stuck it out finally get home, here are their at-bat music selections for '09:

Kelly:

These two are not only great ballplayers, they have impeccable taste in music!

No Reason To Say Pyewp Today

After getting behind by three runs in the first inning due to Omar Infante accidentally using his concrete glove a gimpy Chipper Jones got a limping RBI single in the 8th, former Mariner Greg Norton tied the game with a double in the 9th and Brian McCann got us the win with a walk off single. The M's fired their manager and GM for incompetency, then hired a guy who didn't walk Chipper Jones even though a hit meant a run and Chipper is too hurt to do more than stagger so a walk would burn a pinch runner as well. The homers are flying out of the Ted again today, maybe this means the Braves are finally off the schnide.

Also the Gerogia Bulldogs are in the finals of the College World Series with a win over Stanford. They'll play the winner of the Fresno State - North Carolina game tonight. Steve from White Sox Cards might want to check out a game in order to see Chicago's first rounder, Gordon Beckham, in actionThis is a pretty cool unexpected treat, I'll have the VCR ready to tape any potential World Series Championships. Lord knows it might be a while before the Braves get back... Here's a card of Alum Clint Sammons for good luck.

Finally, I've gotten some cool stuff this weekend from the likes of --David, Mario (Mario sent the McCann up there - thanks Mario!) and Thorzul to show off this week as well as some nifty bargains at the flea market. Some stuff to post on A Pack A Day, Auto-Matic and right here. One of the deals was a pile of my guilty pleasure, Moments And Milestones, big enough to choke a mule for about the price of a pack. I'm in such a good mood I might be giving away a few cards soon to share the wealth. In the meantime I need to set sorting. Sorry Thorzul, no pyewp today!
