ANOTHER BOX OF CARDS IS ON THE WAY FROM BASEBALLCARDSTORE DOT CA (HEY THAT RHYMES) AND I AM STILL POSTING STUFF I GOT LAST SEPTEMBER. I'M GOING TO BE THREE BOXES BEHIND SOON SO I AM GOING TO SPEEDRUN THE REST OF THIS BOX SO I CAN START GETTING MORE STUFF PUT AWAY. THIS WAS GOING TO BE A SHORTER POST THAN USUAL BUT THEN I REMEMBERED I COULD PAD IT OUT WITH CARDS FROM THE LATEST BOX THAT I STILL HAVEN'T TAKEN PICTURES FROM. YOU DON'T KNOW THE ORDER OF ANY OF THESE CARDS! YOU DON'T CARE WHICH ONES I GOT WHEN ANYWAY, YOU JUST WANNA SEE PICTURES OF CARDS. THESE ARE ALL CHIPPER JONES CARDS BY THE WAY SO BRAVES HATERS MIGHT WANT TO CHECK OUT NOW
CATEGORY: BRAVES, INSERTS AND/OR WANTLIST
1998 PINNACLE CHIPPER JONES GOIN' JAKE
1998 WAS THE LAST YEAR FOR PINNACLE BUT THEY WENT OUT ON TOP WITH A WITH A VERY SIMPLE 200 CARD BASE SET. THE SET IS A BIT MINUMALLY DESIGNED BUT GOOD LOOKING AND INCLUDED THIS ALL-STAR INSERT SUBSET HONORING THE PLAYERS WHO PARTICIPATED IN THE HOME RUN DERBY AT JACOBS FIELD. I FEEL LIKE I HAVE THIS CARD ALREADY IN MY CHIPPER BINDER BUT THIS ONE WILL END UP IN THE PINNACLE BOX
1997 LEAF CHIPPER JONES GAMERS
IVE MENTIONED THIS BEFORE BUT MY BRAIN INSISTS THESE CARDS ARE SHORT PRINTED SO I USUALLY END UP PICKING THEM UP IF I SEE THEM. WELL, IF IT'S SOME JABRONI LIKE CHUCK KNOBLAUCH, I'LL CHECK THE WANTLIST FIRST BUT CHIPPER GOES DIRECTLY INTO THE CART. IF I RECALL CORRECTLY I GOT SEVERAL OF THESE WHEN CARDS WERE BEING POSTED IN 8 CARD SHEETS AND A DULL CHIPER SHEET WENT INTO THE CART ONE AT A TIME AS QUICKLY AS POSSIBLE
1997 SP CHIPPER JONES
THIS ONE TURNED OUT TO BE A WANTLIST NEED ALTHOUGH I DID NOT HAVE A LIST AT THE TIME AND REALLY JUST LOOK AT THE CARD. I DON'T NEED NO STINKIN WANTLIST TO GET A CARD THAT LOOKS LIKE THIS. THIS IS MAYBE THE SHINIEST AND FOILIEST OF ALL THE BASE SP SETS AND MIGHT BE THE BEST OF THE BUNCH IF NOT FOR HOW BADLY THE CORNERS AND EDGES CAN GET MOOSHED WITH THAT HOLOFOIL. A CRISP CARD LOOKS GORGEOUS, BUT EVERY DING REALLY SHOWS. THIS ONE LOOKS GREAT WHICH IS WHY I'M ANXIOUS TO GET IT PUT AWAY BEFORE I WRECK IT
1996 UPPER DECK CHIPPER JONES DIAMOND DEBUTS
I THOUGHT THESE CARDS WERE A BOX SET OR MAYBE A MAIL-AWAY SET FROM UPPER DECK FOR THE LONGEST TIME BUT THEY WERE ACTUALLY ONE-PER-PACK INSERTS IN SPECIAL WAL-MART PACKS. WHICH MIGHT BE WHY THEY DON'T SEEM TERRIBLY DIFFICULT TO GET AND WHY I NEVER PULLED ONE BACK IN THE DAY. THE GENEROUSLY FOIL STAMPED CARDBOARD FUSED TO AN ACETATE BACK LOOKS FANTASTIC BUT I'VE SEEN THE CARDS START TO CURL UP IF YOU DON'T WATCH THEM CLOSELY
1997 UD3 CHIPPER JONES
MOARER ACETATE CARDS. THIS ONE IS WEIRD THOUGH, THE CARD IS LIKE ONE OF THOSE SEE-THROUGH MIRRORS COPS PEER THROUGH WHILE THE PERP IS BEING INTERROGATED ON THE FRONT BUT MEANWHILE ON THE BACK
REVERSE NEGATIVE PLAYER PHOTO. YOU CAN SEE THE PICTURE THE RIGHT WAY ROUND IF YOU LOOK AT IT WITH A BRIGHT LIGHT BEHIND IT BUT WHO DOES THAT. I'M TRYING TO PICK OFF AS MANY CARDS FROM THIS SET AS I CAN BEFORE I AM FORCED TO COMPLETE THE SET ONLINE ON COMC OR SOMEWHERE SO KNOCKING OFF ONE OF THE BEST CARDS IN THE FUTURE IMPACT SUBSET IS NICE
1998 SCORE CHIPPER JONES
ANOTHER CARD I MIGHT HAVE IN THE CHIPPER BINDER BUT DO NOT HAVE IN THE SCORE SET BOX. COMPLETING THE ENTIRE SCORE RUN FROM 1988-98 IS ONE OF THOSE SOMEWHAT ACHIEVABLE LONG TERM GOALS OF MINE SO EVERY LITTLE BIT HELPS
1997 UPPER DECK CHIPPER JONES KEN GRIFFEY JR'S HOT LIST
I DON'T KNOW HOW I FEEL ABOUT COMPLETING THE UPPER DECK RUN ANYMORE. I REALLY LIKE THE 90S SETS BUT I'M WONDERING IF I EVEN CARE ABOUT ANYTHING AFTER THE TURN OF THE CENTURY ANYMORE. THIS FORTUNATELY IS FROM 1997 AND UNLIKE THE LEAF GAMERS CARD ABOVE, THIS IS
ACTUALLY A SHORT PRINTED CARD. HOW SHORT PRINTED? WHO KNOWS, THERE WEREN'T ANY ODDS ON THE WRAPPER BUT THAT F/X FOIL ON THE FRONT WAS TOO MUCH FOIL FOR UPPER DECK TO LET THE PRESSES RUN ALL NIGHT I GUESS
1991 UPPER DECK CHIPPER JONES HOT PROSPECTS
UPPER DECK LET THE PRESSSES RUN IN 1991 THOUGH. HOO BOY DID THOSE PRESSES RUN. THAT'S HOW YOU CAN GET A HALL OF FAME ROOKIE FOR CHEAPS IN AN ERA WHERE BASE CARD ROOKIES ARE ALL PRICED THROUGH THE ROOF. SLAP AN RC LOGO ON HERE AND YOU GOT AN EIGHT HUNDRED DOLLAR CARD
2002 UPPER DECK A PIECE OF HISTORY CHIPPER JONES
I LOVE THIS DUMB SET EVEN THOUGH IT IS EXTREMELY DUMB. IT'S GOT A HORIZONTAL DESIGN THAT IS WAY TOO BUSY WITH TIMELINES AND FOIL EVERYWHERE AND WHITE TEXT ON TOP OF OFF- WHITE DESIGN ELEMENTS AND THREE PHOTOS WITH ONE DUPLICATED. IT'S ALREADY OBJECTIVELY A MESS BUT THEN UPPER DECK NOT ONLY INCLUDED 42 SHORT PRINTED ROOKIES BUT ALSO SHORT PRINTED A NINTH OF THE BASE CARDS FOR NO APPARENT REASON. IT'S A DAMN MESS. I LOVE IT THOUGH, ALONG WITH THE INSERT SETS THAT ARE JUST AS MESSY AND OVERDESIGNED
2000 TOPPS CHIPPER JONES ALL-TOPPS TEAM INSERT
THIS ALONG WITH THREE OTHER CARDS FROM THE SAME INSERT SET WERE SET ASIDE FOR ME. THIS IS A WILD LOOKING SET AS THE FRAME HAS LITTLE METALLIC SPARKLEYS EVERYWHERE WHICH IS A LOOK YOU DON'T OFTEN SEE ON CARDS. IT'S MEANT TO EMULATE A HALL OF FAME PLAQUE AND TOPPS DID WELL WITH THE CHECKLIST AS EVERYONE IS EITHER IN THE HALL ALREADY OR PROBABLY WOULD HAVE BEEN IF NOT FOR THE STEROID BACKLASH. WHEN ALBERT BELLE IS THE WORST PLAYER IN YOUR INSERT SET, THAT'S A PRETTY GOOD INSERT SET
1998 UPPER DECK SPECIAL F/X POWER ZONE INSERT
THIS CARD CONFUSED ME BECAUSE I BOUGHT SO MUCH LATE-90S UPPER DECK BUT I HAD ABSOLUTELY NO RECOLLECTION OF THIS INSERT AT ALL. IT TOOK ME A WHILE TO FIGURE OUT THIS WAS AN UPPER DECK INSERT NIT FROM THEBASE SET BUT FROM THE SPECIAL F/X SET THAT WAS BASICALLY A PARALLEL OF THE 1998 SET, JUST WITH THAT TEXTURED FOIL BACKGROUND ON THAT KEN GRIFFEY JR'S HOT LIST CARD ABOVE. AND ON THIS CARD FOR THAT MATTER. I AM NOT A FAN OF SETS THAT ARE CARBON COPIES OF THE FLAGSHIP JUST WITH A GIMMICK SO I'M NOT SURPRISED I NEVER PULLED ONE OF THESE CARDS
1999 PACIFIC PARAMOUNT CHIPPER JONES TEAM CHECKLIST INSERT
PACIIIFIIIIC IIINSSEEEEEERRRTT!!! I SAVED THE BEST FOR LAST. PACIFIC PARAMOUNT WAS BASICALLY PACIFIC'S COLLECTOR'S CHOICE PRODUCT WITH A SMALLER BASE SET, SOMEWHAT BORING DESIGN AND LOWER PRICE (AND NUMBER OF CARDS) PER PACK. PACIFIC INSERTS ARE UNDEFEATED THOUGH AND THIS ONE GILDED WITH A SPLOTCHY FOIL TEAM LOGO IS TOO SHINY FOR ME TO PASS UP EVEN WHEN IT'S NOT CHIPPER
THAT'S A PRETTY GOOD TEAM CHECKLIST FOR A 250 CARD SET TOO. THE BIG THREE PITCHERS PLUS THE STARTING LINEUP MINUS THE SHORTSTOP. WHO THE HECK WAS THE SHORTSTOP IN 1998 ANYWAY? THAT WAS TOO EARLY FOR RAFAEL FURCAL AND TOO LATE FOR RAFAEL BELLIARD. UGH, I HATE THAT I HAVE TO LOOK THIS UP, I'M SLIPPING
...
WALT WEISS? I WOULDN'T HAVE GUESSED THAT IF YOU GAVE ME ALL DAY. NOW YOU KNOW WHY I DON'T PLAY THE HALF DOZEN DAILY GRID AND LINEUP GAMES THAT KEEP GETTING POSTED ON TWITTER
UP NEXT: IT'S MINIS TIME

Those Pinnacle Goin' Jake subset cards are one of those designs that automatically make me think it's an insert. And I just learned about the origin of those UD Diamond Debut cards yesterday on YouTube. A guy busted open a box of those Walmart packs.
