It's actually not all my Medlens, I've got a ton hiding in base sets and team sets. These are the ones that are safely tucked away in toploaders in my Braves box. You can safely assume any Kris Medlen card not on this list is one I desperately want. No, need.

Medlen GameDay Program
Forgot to show off my Kris Medlen GameDay program from the game I went to a couple weeks ago. Kris Medlen is trying desperately to become my favorite Brave right now. Yes, even over Heyward, and as you all know I have a serious man-crush on him. 22 straight wins tends to do that sort of thing. Kinda regretting not going on one last COMC Medlen spree before he went into the rotation this year.

Some COMC swag
Swag means something different nowadays from what it meant when I was a kid but oh well.
Every 8 months or so I get drunk and spend a Jackson over on Check Out My Cards. This happened once again a couple of weeks ago. Someone on Twitter mentioned there were cheap Rickey Henderson rookies on COMC, I checked it out, started wandering about the site, found a card I had to have or ELSE and ended up picking out a handful of cardboard to have shipped to my house. A combination of busyness and confusion and procrastination has left me with a death of ideas for posting (well, other than the dozens of posts stuck in my draft folder) so let's go ahead and show them off. To go with Rainbow Dash, here's a...
Rainbow Medlen.Twilight Diamond Sparkle, Transmogrifier Set parallel and Liquorfractor. Instant Meds Rainbow Starter Set. Of course now I need to track down the Gold border, Black border, Blue Sparkle and any other weird parallels that are out there but I'm off to a good start at least!

Really old package from Madding Pt. 1
One of the things I wanted to get accomplished this month was to show off some cards from packages I received ages ago. I haven't done well so far, but I've got a couple from my favorite Cards cards dumping ground, Madding, queued up. Here's the first of two package posts, unless of course I find a third he sent me somewhere.
This card sucks. I can't find Waldo ANYWHERE. I think they may have hid him behind the Topps logo. It's another Chipper added to the collection though which is always good. The back lists a few statisitcal feats for Chipper; 2406 hits, 426 home runs, 1343 RBIs and a .307 average, something that has been done by only 6 other players. Topps got the rbi totals wrong though - he had 1445 rbis coming into the season. Topps got it right on the base card so I'll let it pass.
Horford is my favorite Hawk and probably in my top three all time favorites behind 'Nique and Doc. Al's cards are somewhat hard to find in these parts. Since I've quit ripping hoops wax with regularity finding Horfords anywhere is a wonderful thing. I know what you're thinking... how can a Bulldog fan like anything from Florida?? Easy, this is basketball, not football. No one cares about Florida basketball in Georgia. Or Georgia basketball for that matter.
A couple of Heritage High number Chromes were added to the package as well:
The Braves are trying to get Diaz to hold down the cleanup spot in the lineup, at least against lefites. Early results are mixed. Of course, they've been trying to find someone - ANYONE - to hold down the cleanup spot all year long. The only two who have come close have been McCann (Who should be batting 5th) and Troy Glaus for about 5 weeks. Good thing the pitching is good.
I've been a huge fan of Medlen since last year and his elbow injury was like a punch in the gut. There's pretty much no chance he will pitch again this year with a torn UCL. I'm not sure if I'd rather avoid surgery or just bite the bullet and get the Tommy John and be done with it. I'd hate that Kris wouldn't pitch in 2011 but Tommy John worked out pretty well for Tim Hudson. Get well soon Kris!

Noooooooooooo
Mere hours after the AJC posted an article about how Kenshin Kawakami is disappointed that he ended up in the bullpen...
Kris Medlen blew up his elbow. Kris, meet Tommy. Tommy, Kris. Looks like Cow-a-commie's back in the rotation.
Dammit.
David O'Brien is a jinx.

Random Current Brave #4
Ahhhh... back at home again. Normal game times once more. Oh before I forget:
Free those Finest! You have no idea how much better those cards look without that crummy scratched up wordy film all over them. Now for the good stuff.
Kris Medlen could probably be in the starting rotation for half the teams in the league. He'll probably get a shot eventually this year as the Braves unofficial 6th starter Jo Jo Reyes, just got stuck on the 15 Day DL after blowing up a few days ago. Kris has some great stuff, but I'm worried the Braves are going to Mercker him since he's so valuable in the pen. The guy sure can pitch but I still am iffy about his cap choices...
This is from some Bowman set. I can't even tell them apart anymore. Now that Topps has the Pro Debut minors license they need to dump this crap in the ocean like the '52 High Numbers.

This is why you always curve the bill of your cap
This poster was the giveaway at last weekend's Gwinnett Braves game. This is as much as I could fit on my scanner. I was able to fit in Tommy Hanson (first guy on the top row) but sadly the manager and a trainer got cut out. There's a lot of other guys who made the big league roster on this poster including Brandon Jones, Gregor Blanco, Reid Gorecki, Boone Logan, Manny Acosta, Barbaro Canizaro, Brooks Conrad and Kris Medlen.

You're telling me there wasn't a second take of the photo? Kris could have gotten away with that expression. He does look genuinely excited to be there. Maybe he got called up to the bigs that morning. But the hat..... you can't get away with that hat. Not with that look on your face. Right next to Kris is Wes Timmons with a bill that is almost as level straight as Medlen's cap, but he's able to kinda pull it off. Not Kris. Poor, poor Kris.
And before you say that I'm being unfair to Kris, when a seven year old boy looks at a poster, gets a big smile on his face and says "Hey daddy, look at this guy" then it isn't me. It's that cap. Always curve the bill of your cap!
