I've bought 20 packs of retail Obak. From three different Targets. For some reason I appear to be the only person in Georgia who likes Obak so there's always a mostly full box awaiting me. In those 20 packs I have pulled this:
Yes, five Heywards. Including all four possible variations.
Like I said, either I'm lucky or they're loaded. Loaded with Heyward minis at least. I have yet to pull a short print, variation, parallel or autograph from a retail pack. Of course I DON'T FREAKING CARE I GOTS HEYWARDZ!!!1

I think you may have gotten lucky... At least us collectors like to think that luck shines down on us once in a while!
I vote for "loaded", as I haven't gotten that many Heyward minis, but I do have one of them, also from a Target retail pack. (I've bought 9 packs in total so far, all retail, all from Target.)
Also: Shhhh! You weren't supposed to tell anyone that they were there until we all finished cleaning them out! :D

The variation feat is cool, but I've mentioned before that Heyward seems to be all over this set. No wonder you love it.

I'm in Georgia and I'm very interested in Obak. Didn't even know they made retail Obak. We must not get them this far north. I'd have drive to Chattanooga to a Target. Our local Wal-Mart stinks when it comes to putting retail stuff out. Either there is a collector that is putting stuff out and not putting the "crack" on the shelves or Wal-Mart really sucks when it comes to retail cards.
