The Obak Box is Broke

Ripped it this morning. I'm not going to show off anything from it quite yet, you'll get to see the break soon enough. I videoed the whole thing and once I get it edited into You-Tube friendly chunks I'll post it. Here's some pics of the box in the meantime.

The box itself is serial numbered. I found that to be quite odd. Weirder still is the mini card strip box topper is not the same number as the box. That's a missed opportunity by TriStar right there.

Here's a couple of cards printed on the box. You'll see plenty more of those two in the box rip itself. Oh, sorry... *SPOILERS*

Coming from guy who appreciates these sorts of things, the back of the box is extremely well done. Here's a small writeup on the original Obak cards:

The set breakdown:

And coolest of all, a set checklist that details all the different subsets and has descriptions for many of the subjects.

The break itself was very good, I got most of the set and beat the odds on the number of 'hits' in the box. Once I post all the videos I'll do a proper box recap post. That will probably be this weekend, Monday at the latest.

Ugh, the box back scans came out dreadful. If but one person requests it, I'll re-scan in .png format so you can read it.

If no one cares however, I shall be lazy.

I think people really underestimate and under-appreciate companies like Tristar and Just Minors. They do a good job, considering the competition and the market share.

If you end up with any Cardinals-related doubles or whatever sort of kerfluff, I'd definitely be interested. After seeing Bob Lemke's blog, which I never would have known about if it weren't for Ben Henry's return, I definitely find the original Obak stuff fascinating.

Hey Dayf, any way to email or otherwise get to me the full info sheet? I bought a hand collated set for 10bucks(got a bonus Logan Shafer Auto) and have been really enjoying the cards, but want more info. I'll go check and see if they have a printable version...

Peterson: I'll re-scan the back in .png and .pdf versions. I'm also going to so some scans of the checklist. I think I have a copy of the original sell sheet somewhere as well. I'll try to post all that stuff this weekend.

Let me know what you still need for the set. I have a good stack of doubles left over from a pack binge after my box was broken.

Will do. Your long overdue package with newly added coolness prize should be mailed by Monday.
