Group Break results - BA Benny

BA Benny got hosed. There is no denying this. Let us not dwell on this misfortune. Actually, we better dwell or else there's no post.

Benny chose the code cards and the Mets. Here are the codes:

'52 Mickey...

and '76 Munson.

Here are all the Mets in the box:

NOTHING. Poor BA didn't even have a special refractor to assure him of one lousy Met. The group break giveth and the group break taketh away. Here's what he did get:

Brian Matusz Chrome RC

Chris "Pie-eyed" Coughlan Chrome Rookie Cup

A couple of Tigers.

I added a couple of Mets to the package out of mercy, but unfortunately I'm running low on Mets. I may need to start joining group breaks just for the Meta at this point to replenish my stock. Ugh - what am I saying??

Last one is the Cubs, but I still haven't received payment. No hurry, you did slightly better than BA here though.

Words of Wisdom

Some words of wisdom to everyone out there who wants to be a manager.

Never.

Ever.

EVER.

sign up to be the manager of a New York baseball club as your first job as a "hot" managing prospect. You will be hailed as a savior for about 3 months, then the tabloids and the owners and the sports talk radio hosts will get bored and you will be meticulously torn down, slandered, beaten, vilified, chewed up, spit out, and panned in a New York Times dining review. The only managers who can survive in New York are baseball lifers, washed up bums with no place to go, the clinically insane, or all of the above. Very rarely will a wunderkind show up and be successful in New York, and even then they have veeeery short memories up there. Your best bet for maintaining your sanity is to find a nice mid-market team with a good front office and an owner too cheap to fire anyone in a multi-year contract and enjoy the rest of your life. In the meantime, watch this video and find out what kind of calls you're supposed to be taking at 3AM.

How Sweep It IS

Not even the Mighty Santana could keep the Mets from dropping four straight in Atlanta.

As much as I want to gloat though, I sense there may be some gloominess at a fellow blogger's abode due to this as well as other circumstances. To try to cheer them up, I offer this card of the man who hit the game-winning RBI in tonight's game (and could it have really been anyone else?) with a big 'ol smile on his face.

Hopefully this doesn't twist the knife in further, but we just swept the Mets. I gotta gloat a little.

I can't even gloat

So Johan Santana gives up some bombs to the Brewers and gets booed of the field by the ever so classy Mets fans. Normally I'd be all over this, but events in Washington have tempered my schadenfreude.

In his start against the Nats, Tom Glavine was having one of his "completely implode in the 1st inning" moments (and he was having them looooooong before last September) when his hammy decided to implode as well. Jeff Bennett gave up three more runs of his own and the Braves left the bases loaded in the 9th to lose yet another game by one stinking run. Now Glavine's day to day, we're two games under .500 and off to Miami to face the division leading Marlins. Yes, I said division leading. Thankfully there is an off day to regroup today.

The story that pissed me off the most this weekend though was all the hullabaloo over the guy who buried the Sox jersey under the new Yankee Stadium. I don't even care about the prank (which seemed like a pre-planned scheme to get more attention on this weekend's series to me), the fact that uptight Yankee suits are now trying to file criminal charges against the guy really makes me mad. That's great Yankees, let's throw some working slob in the clink because he hurt your Billion Dollar stadium. Asshat Hank needs to get over himself and go take a dump in the Fenway press box and just call it even.

Now I'm all angried up on a Monday morning. I'll get in a happy place by posting an autograph of the guy who ran Johan yesterday.

Welcome back Kapler! Four homers so far this season!
