I miss '07 Goudey. After that, it got kinda half-assed. Man, was that '07 set awesome, though. One of the best ever. Need to get back to work on the SPs/autos/relics/etc. once I've got some cash. Finished red and green base for Christmas, with some doubles to spare, so it's onto the hard stuff now.
Me too. I even like the 2009 Goudy (and I have yet to have anyone actually explain why everyone hates it).
You are not alone!
I still like the 07's the best as well. To Cardsplitter -- I think a lot of us thought the way they photoshopped the images made the players look either weird or alien. #55 Dave Concepcion,is the prime example.
I liked the 2009 Goudey's that I got in my repackages from Target. I don'gt think they look bad, but I just took another look at the Dave Concepcion and it is weird. He looks kinda like Odo from Star Trek:Deep Space Nine.
2009 Goudey was pretty good even though it wasn't as goof as '08 and especially '07. I really liked the 1935-style 4-in-1s.
I'm just still steamed that 2010 Goudey was going to be the next product released when MLB sued UD and kiboshed everything. I know for a fact that even if cards weren't yet printed designs and checklists and such exist and it's burning my ass that we'll never get to see it because of greed and chicanery.
The '09 Clay Buchholz made him look like he had LEDs for eyes. That set an awful number of odd looking cards.
Hey Dayf, check out my post from tonight.
Peace.
(Hate the monopoly!)
Back when Topps bought out Bowman in the 50's, apparently Bowman had already done a few different possible designs for 1956 Bowman. Topps later used them exact designs for 2003 Bowman Heritage. Maybe Topps will eventually buy out Upper Deck and start making UD Heritage. They can use the 2010 Goudey for 2036 Upped Deck Heritage. And our kids can go ga-ga over it because everybody loves retro sets.
