Bobby Cox signed a one year extension to manage the Braves in 2010 today.
He also announced he will be retiring at the end of the 2010 season.
Of course he's not going anywhere as he will be a paid consultant of the Braves through at least 2015.
I've been saying for years, Bobby will no longer be the Braves' manager when Bobby decides he is no longer the Braves' manager. I'm still not entirely convinced he'll go through with it after next season. I still got a little teared up when I heard it on the radio though.

mixed emotions.... the logical piece of me thinks it might be time. (along with seeing the bullpen overused time and again)
but the emotional piece, and the fan, wants him to stay until they cart him off the field.
100% agree with the Canuck. It will be sad when he goes, and tough to watch the Braves without seeing his face in the dugout and could be even worse if Chipper calls it quits too. But, as Chipper said, I'll believe it when I see it.
Yes, watching him trot out Nortan again and again and pitching Moylan until his arm falls off gets tiresome. However... what other option does he have? The bullpen's shaky after the top three and the bench while decent isn't filled with stars. He's done pretty good this year with what he was given. One more decent outfielder in the first two months of the season and maybe we're one or two games out of the wildcard instead of five.
I think some Braves fans won't miss Bobby until he is gone.
Those are gonna be big shoes to fill.
