Dear Lord, Topps is a bunch of friggin' geniuses. They've had us staring at a computer screen hitting F5 all night just for a shot at the world's largest stockpile of 1989 Topps cards. Richard McWilliam would kick his own grandpa in the junk if it would get collectors all riled up like this.
Please don't make me pull out the "You'll get nothing and LIKE it!" clip, Topps. Because I will go there.
UPDATE:
1987 BIP ROBERTS AWAIT!

Is anyone else clicking on every single pixel on that page thinking there might be a "Escape the room game" style hidden trick?
....and I got up early to enter the codes.
it's the first "a" in Jackie, Dayf.
(no it's not)
still no @ 8:06. gotta go to work. will bring codes.
I found the secret pixel...I'll tell you after I enter my codes and get all my 1989 Topps redemptions!
Ok, maybe not. It was just a booger on Russ Nixon's 1989 card.
I have no codes but...aren't those 3 '89 Topps cards hiding behind the '53 Robinson? Good luck!
Maybe Topps works on a different calendar then the rest of the world. You know, the same one that says a product releases 2-3 weeks after it's says it's supposed to on our calendar?
Don't forget to (eventually) enter the phone # of your favorite card shop to give them a shot at winning something. So I'm told...
Dayf, I got it figured out...they're going to give away one card for every million clicks they get from all the ocd people like me.
Sorry to burst your bubble, but there's no secret pixel to click, however I did notice that Topps set up Google Analytics for the site.
I bet someone at Topps is having a good laugh as they watch the number of hits to the site soar while they wait until later today to make the site active.
Looking at the page source, the countdown timer originally had a target date of "2/15/2010 5:00 AM". They also listed "*nsync; nsync;" among the keywords for the page. Perhaps this is far more ominous than it seems...
I think I am required by law to like Topps now, but man, these redemption programs are never smooth, are they?
I just went there and still no place to enter codes. Dang, I can't wait to get my 88 Darnell Coles.
They will bestow upon us the cards even Fairfield shalt not buy.
HURRY UP!
It is up now and ready to go...
It's loading so slowly that I have a feeling that if I try it now it will error out or give me a tear-stained Kevin Seitzer.
Oh yeah... That server is getting HAMMERED.
And now it's dead... or at least giving me the sudden blank page treatment.
There is now a list of "recently unlocked cards." Lots of late '80s stuff, but also a 1974 George Mitterwald.
But I can't log in at all.
:( Nothing for me. The page hasn't changed.
I would be happy with anything before 1979.
I got 2 in before it started to get wacked out. It kept going blank page on me when I tried my third code so I hope that code doesn't get screwed up.
So far, I got one '74 and one '85.
SLOW AS CHRISTMAS
Almost registered, though.
1985 Kirk Gibson
Ha! Coulda done worse
Finally got to a point where I can enter a code. Now I am waiting and waiting and waiting ...
toppscards.com right? It's still not doing anything...
I got a 2005 Grady Sizemore. o.O
Ok, I give up...
Got registered, entered a code, got a blank detail window popup, NO CARD, tried again, blank screen, Checked My Portfolio to see if I got anything or not, it was blank too, tried the code again, same blank screen, tried refreshing and white screen all around.
YOU'LL GET NOTHING AND LIKE IT!
It's always something, huh? Not a good start there, topps.
That same thing happened to me with getting the blank window after putting in a code. I kept at it and after a while it worked. I haven't been able to get the site to work since though.
I GOT ONE!!!!!
1993 TIM NAEHRING!!!!
WOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOO
YAY TOPPS IT TEAM!
Check out this pull...I'm curious about this because it says 'physical appearance may not be same once shipped'
http://cnt.toppsmillion.com/img/cards/2002_TRA-FJ_JENKINS_F_285x412.jpg
whoa, an auto! Nice.
I think that disclaimer means that they got an image of each card to post when you redeem a code, but multiples of many of the cards. So you should be getting a Jenkins auto from that set, just not necessarily that exact one. Did you pull that or did someone else?
Lemmings!!!
Somehow I pulled it, I'd say it's a pretty good deal. But after that I promptly pulled a Buddy Bell 2002 Manager card.
Finally landed my first card, and OH MY GOD, I predicted one of the players I'd get!
This might not be good.
Well I have ten of these cards and I have only been able to enter 4 of them. Heres what I've gotten so far
1993 Marlins Future Stars
1987 Tony Gwynn
2002 Fan Favorites Robin Yount AUTO!!!!!!!!!!!!! WOOO!
and lastly, 1969 Lou Brock
Now that the site is actually up and running I have to say I am pretty pleased with how Topps is doing this.
he lag really is horrible...I can't tell if I got a card or not for 3 entries.
I did get a 1971 Fergie Jenkins though...
If you enter the code and the page craps out on you, go into your My Portfolio page. That will show you all the cards you have. if you've got less cards than codes entered, try 'em again.
I am trying really hard not to enter any more codes until the crush is over but I'm so tempted...
These pulls are actually really, really good. HOFers from the 60s & 70s? Autos? I had two redemptions and got a '67 and '72. Yeah, they're commons, but I figured that would be about as good as it got, not my FIRST TWO pulls.
(Enjoy the blog, btw, Dayf - this is my first comment.)
After three attempts and a half hour wasted Code number 2 revealed...
1971 Bob Veale
This is a bit of a pain in the ass right now, but this is quite the awesome promotion!
Ok, third and last code before I try again tonight when the server is not being tortured:
1998 Orel Hershiser
I knew I should have been concerned when the first code included the combo "Wtf"
2005 Pat Burrell
2005 Carlos Beltran
1987 Butch Wynegar
2005 Scott Hairston
2005 Gil Meche
Before reading anybody else's results this is what I would have anticipated but after seeing some 60s and 70s I'm somewhat bummed. Oh well, it was entertaining just to find out what I got.
